Waters Fished: Mon river, jennings-randolph lake, anywhere where catfish swim :)
ive ate channels out of the mon before, best fish ive ever had. i remember reading something about catfish having a "filter" that is able to filter out toxins much more effeciently than other fish. i wouldnt stop you from eating fish out of the rivers, but definetly cut down on how often you eat them. me personally, i wouldnt eat more than 2-3 meals a month.

wow,the channels i have eatin were pretty terrible, they all had a yellowish spot near the side fins and back fin, they fried up like nice whitefish, but had a flavor like the bottom of a rock smells, haha
when i did eat flatheads outta the river they were 6-8lb size and were some of the best freshwater fish i have eaten ever.
i dont eat the flats anymore.havent in a while
as for the book,i believe that they want you to throw them back, makes sense---catch and release, means more fish to catch, thus more folks to buy a liscense to try in the fun.
mine run off will never go away.

I haven't eaten any cats out of the Mon yet but I do eat about 4 or 5 walleye a year. I wouldn't eat any fish more than once a week out of Pa waters, I know of people that ate too many and had health problems but they were eating fish 2-3 times a week.

I ate a couple channels out of an Allegheny trib last year, very tasty. Some day I may keep 1 small flat to try, but I'm 99% c&r out of the rivers. In fact I've only ever eaten 1 fish out of the river, a 17" eye.
